Frozen Shoulder.... I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Julia Mason and the staff at New Life Chiropractic for helping me to recover from an extremely painful ailment involving my right shoulder. It has been a recovery that is almost miraculous and if I had not undergone it, I would not have believed that such a turn of events would be possible at all. Due to a major tumor surgery several years ago which removed a large amount of muscle, the area around my right shoulder had become restricted from full range of motion with some muscle groups compensating for those that had been removed by surgery. I was then diagnosed with Calcified Tendonitis. My range of motion was rapidly decreasing and the pain was getting worse. I was given cortisone shots and underwent physical therapy but the condition eventually worsened. A friend suggested that I try chiropractic care as it had done wonders for her when she had similar problems. Dr. Mason was quite frank with me as to the uncertainty of recovery. This was because of the severe degree of frozen shoulder and the missing muscle groups and bone that had been surgically removed years earlier. What is important is that I can truly say that my shoulder is now 98% cured! I have my life back and all this has been achieved without any drugs or surgery, just chiropractic adjustments, therapeutic soft tissue massage and muscle strengthening. I consider myself lucky and completely satisfied. I am now back to playing golf again. The name of your Clinic is very meaningful for I do believe I have been introduced to a “New Life” with renewed use of some worn-down muscles and great relief from the pain that has afflicted me for a very long time.Thanks again.....(Tom P.) Thanks for your help!...(Bill) Herniated Discs with Sciatica.... I was suffering from pain starting in my lower back and running down the back of my left leg. I was unable to stand up straight and the discomfort made it difficult to walk or even get a good night's sleep. An MRI revealed that I had a herniated disk at L5-S1. My M.D. suggested a cortisone shot and ultimately back surgery. About this time I heard Dr. McCaffrey and Dr. Mason give a presentation about treating back problems with chiropractic therapy. I decided that I would give it a try and see if they could help me. After a few weeks of treatment (by Dr. Janet McCaffrey) the pain started to subside and before too much longer I was completely pain free. I was thus able to not only avoid surgery but an epidermal as well. I recommend that anyone with sciatica consider chiropractic treatment before submitting to back surgery. (John G.)
